Default Soloing IDS.

I've tried soloing the IDS as a W/Me with Elemantal resistance and mantra of frost, but if i get more than like 4-5 imps , i get owned. Can someone who is a warrior and solos it tell me how they do it?

Check the Builds section, there's a thread for it already. Elemental Resistance and Mantra of Frost are both stances; one cancels the other out. They do not stack, so having both is redundant.

elemental resistance is much better than frost and requires little investment into inspiration, none atall if you can upkeep it alot.

I've spent somewhere around 11 hours in mineral springs with everything from 4 man to 8 man groups, and though I've seen a bunch drop, none have dropped for me :|

I believe when I went up there with another monk, I left the build I was using.. Obviously SOJ is a must, cause that's the damage dealer, I also used the spell that gives +28% to enchanting, and my staff gave +20% to enchanting, which makes SOJ last a ton longer, and by the time that runs out, I'm almost ready to cast it again, also take Balth's spirit, so you get energy when you get tagged... Keep mending up too, it aids a ton... It's not much different than farming anything else, the only problem was malestrom,as long asyou run out of that spell area and cast you're fairly fine. I'm probably gonna look for another 2nd monk to do it again later today after I get done doing all the holiday stuff with family. Good luck

chippxero, you truly are one of a kind I did the same thing today, only I gave a Yakslapper to a newbie monk that has just started playing. so he thanked me in the public chat, after which I have received about 5 queries where I was called a noob dumbass, that I shoulda sold that Yakslapper and that I should burn in hell and die a horrible fiery death.

people change... all this wasn't happening back when the game has just been launched. where are those good old days now, I wonder?

Hehe, i started a new character to find a newbie, there was a warrior in pre-searing who was asking a lot of questions, so i'm pretty sure he's a complete newbie and there-fore deserves the treat, so i handed him the IDS once he got to post-searing.

I thought about asking for newbies to come up to me but i figured i'd get loads of people with just new characters that wouldn't get as much from the sword as someone new to the game.

I'm by no means well off in the game, i have around 100k in my storage all the time, i don't buy 15k armour and i don't buy weapons from players most of the time. so i really had no use for the weapon as i can move my first IDS around characters if i need to. (or just go get another tomorrow)

The sword to me is worth 10k at most due to it only being able to have one upgrade so i don't see it as a big gift, I use my IDS for my mesmer and monk for IW with a 20% enchantment pomel(sp?).

Hopefully the newbie once he's got futher in game will travel back and help out someone else who's new.

Everyone should be in the Chippmas spirit.

IDS' need to internally combust at 12:00 new years day. so everyone who was an idiot and who spent 100k to get one, actually realizes what they have done o.O

Ahahaha... good work I normally give out armor crafting materials and the gold to craft the armor and weapons if I hvae spares, I to also do what you do and that is play in Pre-Searing and find a new player to the game then add him to my friends list and once he gets to Post-Searing he gets a nice weapon and new armor to boot.

BTW What land celebrates "Chippmas"? :P

Also for those that don't have an IDS, dont fret I dont have one either, I guess you just gotta farm somemore. Thats the fun in the game

Regards

Everyone celebrates Chippmas, it starts from the 1st of December and ends on the 31st, it's a time of giving and joy where all people have to do one good deed a day in online gaming.

Be it picking up a grenade in Day of Defeat source to save your team mate getting blown up, flying a blackhawk in to a tank in battlefield to stop a flag being taken or joining a random team thats had trouble on a mission with my monk to help get them through, big or small it makes the games nicer for everyone.

The IDS are still dropping a fair bit at the moment and it appears you are more likely with a team 4-5 than solo to see one.

People used to say 100k was way to much for an IDS, now I see tons of people askind to buy an IDS for 10 ecto or 100k.
